  • How many cats use the catio? Four cats, Maui, Koa, Kala, and Kai.

  • Who designed/built it? Cat Topia did the project development and design, and they hired subcontractors to complete the build.

  • What inspired the design of the catio? Going on the Catio Tour sparked a desire for a large enclosure with ample space for the cats to run. They had several inspirational photos, and their designer helped them utilize their space effectively.

  • Why was this location chosen? It was the space available in the backyard for the structure that they wanted. It allows them to be able to see the cats from both inside their home and outside while they are enjoying their pergola.

  • How do the cats enter the catio? Trough a cat door installed in the interior wall and exterior of the house that leads directly into the large enclosure.

  • What are the cats’ favorite features? They love the catwalk sections. They will sit there for hours watching the birds and critters.

  • What advice would you give someone looking to build a catio? The stain came out much lighter than they had anticipated and desired. They tested it ahead of time and had used the color in the past, but the exact type of wood and how "finished" it is dictates the color, so they would recommend testing the stain/paint color on the exact wood that will be used.
